Testing of floor drain trap seal protection devices, type Green Drain from HOPE A/S
October 19, 2016
The results of the tests were as follows:
- Testing of vacuum and pressure. The result was, that the floor drain trap seal protection devices withstand a pressure > 400 pa (40 mm water column). En turn, the floor drain trap seal protection device coped with less than 20 pa negative pressure (suction) from the drain installation. Additionally opens the floor drain trap seal protection device completely in conjunction with major deposits etc. to pass through.
- Testing of self-cleaning ability. Self-cleaning ability of the trial after the temperature cycle test was satisfactory, since no bullets were retained.
- Testing of the water flow. The result was, that the flow of water through the floor drain trap seal protection device was about 14 Ils, which is accepted according to EN 1253-1.
- Adhering to the pipe/floor drain was quite different in the three different types of floor drains, which the product was installed ln In particular, for one floor drain, the adhering was only mediocre.

Performance
- The odor closure is designed as a circular tube with an elastic closure element. When underpressure in the drain, air is drawn out while closing the air when overpressure in the drain line.

Identification:
- Each device shall be permanently and legibly marked with the manufacturer’s name or trademark and the application designation for the type of floor which the product could be installed ( Any Floor Finish (AF), Any Floor, Grease Laden Waste (AF-GW), Shower Floor (SF), Concrete Floor (CF), Ceramic Tile Floor (CT), Wood Floor (WF) ) Product shall also bear the cUPC® certification mark. Packaging shall bear the manufacturer’s name or trademark, model number or description of the device, rating for type of floor, rated for grease-laden waste (if applicable), and the floor drain size.
Installation Insructions
The Green Drain GD2(2″), GD3(3″), GD35(3.5″), and GD4(4″) Floor Drain Trap Seal Devices introduce into either the ‘outlet connections of floor drain bodies or inside of floor drain strainers. To use the Green Drain in floor drain bodies, eliminate the mesh or sifter and install the correct size Green Drain item (match the opening size 2″, 3″, 3.5″, or 4″ with the item size) within the drain body. The four adaptable silicone pliable ribs guarantee simple implementation into openings that have differences in size.
Maintenance Instructions:
The Green Drain should be flushed with water once every month to clear garbage.
